Injilinji Youth Support is focused on providing support services to vulnerable young people and strengthening their relationships with their families and support networks. Injilinji Youth Support Services provides an essential early intervention response to young people who present with risk factors that may impact their well-being and result in harm, homelessness and/or negative health outcomes.

In 2022, Injilinji Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Children & Youth Services was selected by the State of Queensland, acting through the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs as the successful tenderer for the delivery of a Youth Support Service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young peoples in Mount Isa and Camooweal.

The State of Queensland has provided funding to Injilinji for three years commencing 1 January 2023 for a new Youth Support Service in Mount Isa that will deliver modern, contemporary models of support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young peoples aged 12 to 21 years who are at risk of –

  • disconnection from family, community, prosocial or recreational activities or informal support networks;
  • disengaging from school, training and / or employment;
  • harm, including self-harm or suicide;
  • cultural disconnection;
  • homelessness, or are already experiencing homelessness; or
  • entering, or are already involved in, the Youth Justice system.

Injilinji Youth Support Service operates a flexible, extended hours model, including on weekends and in the evenings when young people require support services. The service also operates over the Christmas / New Year period (excluding public holidays).
